The Flush doors are the doors that develops an interlink between the internal parts of the house that allows for ventilation and passage of light. It also aids in building up security and privacy in the house. Since they are used to develop interlinks they possess a plain surface on both sides of construction. These doors are most common in use for residential and construction purposes.
A flush door is a body or framework consisting of rails and stiles including top, bottom and narrow intermediate rails. Their surfaces are joint less on both the sides. The stability of the shapes of these doors depends on the degree to which the flush is fixed or moulded facing the core. Lighter the core, higher the number of facings used to provide stability. The thickness of the flush door shutters should be maintained within the range of 25mm – 40mm as per the door type.
The face veneer or decorative type plywood which is used for the face panel that is known as decorative type of door. This plywood is bonded with the help of synthetic resin adhesive which should also be borer proof. It may be rotary cut or sliced in less than 1mm thick slices. It is more costly than the other door types. If a non-decorative type plywood is used, the face panel will be named as non-decorative type doors.
Basically there are three types of Flush doors – Solid Core, Hollow Core and Cellular Core flush doors.
The Solid core flush doors comprises stiles as well as top and bottom rails each with a thickness less than 7.5cm wide. These can be made from core of timber, chipboard or compressed fibre board strips whereas in case of Hollow core flush doors the frame is constituted by the stiles top, bottom and intermediate rails not less than 7.5 cm wide. Moreover, the frame is covered on both sides with the sheets of plywood.
Another type Cellular Core flush doors are made up of cellular, fibreboard or paper core in the frame made up of light softwood incorporated with lock and hinges blocks. It is also covered with plywood or hardboard facing which is glued to the frame and core over both sides.
